Majority of Texans Vow to do This if Hillary Wins

A recent poll conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP) found that a majority of Texans – 3 out of 5 – support seceding from the nation if Hillary Clinton wins the Presidency.

In general, only 1 in 5 Texans support secession. But there’s just something about the prospect of a Hillary presidency that invigorates Texans’ independent spirit. The Houston Chronicle reported:

If anyone needs proof that the presidential race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton truly is dividing the country, they should look to Texas.

According to poll results from Public Policy Polling released Tuesday, three out of five Texans said they would support seceding from America if Hillary Clinton becomes president.

The left-leaning polling firm learned Donald Trump leads 50 percent to Hillary Clinton’s 44 percent after polling Texans. According to the polling results from PPP, only one out of four Texans support seceding from America generally. But when faced with the possibility of a President Hillary Clinton, a majority of Texans said they’d rather leave.

I guess you could call it “Texit.” If Britain could pull it off, why couldn’t Texas? I think most people did not expect Brexit – especially in this modern, electronic-voting machine age. Of course, Britain still does things the old way – by paper ballots. Perhaps that’s why they succeeded in their secession.

To many Americans, the idea of secession sounds like a great idea. I’m definitely not opposed to it, but states have grown so dependent on the federal government. A state suddenly divorcing itself from the feds would mean that it would be completely on its own. (I know…that’s the point.) No more federal funding for anything.

And not to mention that the feds would not be open to the idea. If the federal government’s propaganda campaign failed in getting a state to give up its secession movement, the whole force of the U.S. government would come down on that state to stop it from leaving.

Even if the state were to succeed, how would the feds treat the new “country?” Would they ban air travel to and from the nation? Would they declare it a “State Sponsor of Terrorism?”

Perhaps a Hillary presidency would be enough incentive for people to fight even harder for secession, to the point of fighting another war. Would it be worth it?

DEAR PATRIOTS: Should There be a TEXIT?

waving flagPosted on June 25, 2016

Screen Shot 2016-06-25 at 10.53.06 AMIn light of what happened to our friends across the pond, Texans have found a new energy behind the secession movement. Check out how many people are talking about this.

After residents of the UK voted today to leave the European Union, the movement for an independent Texas may be gaining serious momentum, with thousands online calling for a “Texit.”

The largest group agitating for secession is the Texas Nationalist Movement, which has been promoting its own version of Brexit, called Texit, over the past several weeks. The group has taken inspiration from the pro-exit campaign in Britain, noting that the two movements share many of the same principles. Daniel Miller, president of the TNM, told Australian website news.com.au, “The vast majority of the laws, rules and regulations that affect the people of Texas are created by the political class or unelected bureaucrats in Washington” — a sentiment which echoes the arguments made by the British Leave campaign.

Vocativ analyzed use of the phrase “Texit” since the beginning of 2016, finding that use of the phrase exploded when the Brexit results were announced on Friday, June 24. As of publication, more than 5,800 people on Twitter used the phrase, a five-fold increase from the day before. 1,745 people tweeted about Texit between 7:00 and 8:00 AM London time, the hour when the final results were announced, with more than 3,000 Texit tweets posted in the hours since.
