Liberty Ridge Farm
Robert and Cynthia Gifford own a farm in upstate New York, the  Liberty Ridge Farm, where the Christian couple supplement their farming The Persecution has Begunincome by holding weddings, receptions, and company events on their farm which is surrounded by nature’s beauty.  But when a homosexual couple, Jennifer McCarthy and Melisa Erwin, of Newark, New Jersey, requested that the Giffords rent their facility to the lesbian couple, the Giffords offered to allow the reception to be held on the farm, but not the wedding itself, as it violates their biblically-based Christian views.

The homosexual couple took the Giffords to court, rather than accept the Christian farmers’ compromise, and the administrative law judge in the case, Migdalia Pares of the Bronx, decided to take away the Christian couple’s First Amendment rights, ruling that they, “unlawfully discriminated against complainants solely on the basis of their sexual orientation,” in addition to levying a $13,000 fine.

But as the Daily Signal  reports, the New York Christian farmers are not taking the decision laying down, and will fight “every facet” of the decision:

The Giffords contend their decision was not about the couple’s sexual orientation but about upholding their own religiously based views on marriage.

“We open our doors for a certain part of the year for everyone to come and enjoy God’s country that we’re so blessed to live on,” Cynthia Gifford said.

“We feel the judge did not consider our religious beliefs or the Constitution, so we were very disappointed in that fact and decided to appeal hoping we would have the opportunity for a court to consider our religious rights and constitutional rights,” she said.

As TPNN reported in August, the couple made the painful financial decision to stop all weddings on their farm, rather than violate their First Amendment rights to freedom of religion. LMSELCHD Sacred Cow
