Obamacare exchange sends couple voter registration form pre-marked as Democrat

Last October, LU staff reported that Obamacare exchanges offered visitors an option to register to vote. Brian Cook, a spokesman for Medicare and Medicaid Services, was quoted as saying the exchanges were required to include that option under the 1993 National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).

But does that law also empower the exchanges to automatically register enrollees and, if so, as Democrats? That’s what happened to a La Mesa, Calif., couple. ABC News 10 reports that the couple, who asked not to be identified, received an envelope from Covered California, the state’s Obamacare exchange. Inside was a registration card pre-marked with an “x” in the box next to Democratic Party.

The husband told reporters:

I’m an old guy and I never would have noticed it, except I have an accountant that notices every dot and dash on a piece of paper as a wife.

Covered California began mailing out voter registration cards to all enrollees last week after being threatened with a lawsuit by the League of Women Voters, Young Invincibles, other pro-Obamacare voting rights groups, and the ACLU. Their argument, presented in a 6-page letter mailed to Debra Bowen, the California Secretary of State, noted an “obligation on the part of public assistance agencies to provide voter registration services.” Their petition, which cited Section 7 of the NVRA, was based rather loosely on that provision, which reads:

Section 7 of the Act requires states to offer voter registration opportunities at all offices that provide public assistance and all offices that provide state-funded programs primarily engaged in providing services to persons with disabilities. Each applicant for any of these services, renewal of services, or address changes must be provided with a voter registration form of a declination form as well as assistance in completing the form and forwarding the completed application to the appropriate state or local election official. [Emphasis added]

Whether a website can reasonably be called an “office” is open to debate. What is not debatable is the illegality of selecting a party affiliation for private citizens.

There are other problems, noted by the couple:

[T]here’s an awful lot of people who are going to get this that are already registered and they don’t need to. I can see that, but I can’t see putting x on the form before it’s given to me in a little bitty box that nobody’s really going to notice.

Anne Gonzales, a spokeswoman for Covered California, told reporters that the application forms come directly from the Secretary of State’s office, with no fields pre-marked, adding that the couple should contact the Secretary of State, which “takes these violations of election law extremely seriously.” The couple claims they did reach out to the Secretary of State’s office and were unable to get hold of anyone. They then tried contacting the San Diego County Registrar of Voters, which told them to contact Covered California.

Is anybody having fun yet?

I Told You So! I Told You So! I Told You So! I Told You So! I Told You So! I Told You So!

It is happening. Doctors refuse to do business at a loss, and are in fact offended that the State thinks they are worth so little. As I have said many times before; Doctor’s all over California, as well as across America, will start displaying signs that state that they no longer take any form of insurance. BEFORE treatment, you must agree to pay them CASH, and they you can bill your insurance carrier. That will mean you will pay MORE than the ALREADY outrageous deductibles to get treatment.

As was published last week; All of this is NOT a mistake. All of this mess was, and remains, a deliberate hoax by President Obama (I will never show disrespect for anyone holding the sacred title of President of the United States).  He, along with his carefully selected minions, designed this monster of a law to get the American People to rise up in anger about healthcare cost so they can get their original goal of “Single Payer” National Socialized medicine. (See http://www.freemarketcure.com/singlepayermyths.php)

The goal all along has been to destroy the American economy by destroying capitalism. Then the Left can throw out the Constitution and install a Marxist/Socialist/Collectivist government. Please read the following.

Doctors Revolting Against Obamacare in California

By / 9 December  2013

California’s largest medical association found in a recent survey that  some 7 out of 10 doctors in California had decided not to participate in the  state’s Obamacare exchange.

Those numbers could play havoc with the state’s attempt at socializing  healthcare. If Californians sign up for Obamacare’s coverage in any great  number, there will be nowhere near enough doctors to cover all of the  patients.

The President of the California Medical Association says that he is “not  surprised” at the amount of doctors revolting against the Obamacare system.

“It doesn’t surprise me that there’s a high rate of  nonparticipation,” “We need some recognition that we’re doing a service to  the community. But we can’t do it for free. And we can’t do it at a loss. No  other business would do that.”

Of course no other business would do that. No businessman in their right mind  would do all of the work entailed in starting a business if they didn’t think  they might make a very good profit.

It’s just not worth it!

doctors are scarceIt’s worth even less for a doctor. Doctors not only  have to run a business, they have to go through years of education and hundreds  of thousands of dollars in debt to start their businesses. Why would they put  themselves through all of that pain and effort if they weren’t assured a nice  profit and the luxuries of financial prosperity?

They wouldn’t.

And other medical professionals are starting to speak out about the problem  as well.

Alex Briscoe, health director for Alameda County Health Care Services Agency  says,

“Enrollment doesn’t mean access, because there aren’t enough doctors to  take the low rates of Medicaid. There aren’t enough primary care physicians,  period.”

Briscoe hopes his eight community health centers can handle the 200,000  uninsured individuals he said reside in his county, but he warned that “there is  a doctor shortage. It is going to get worse as more people enter the  market.”

Briscoe professed not to be surprised by the refusal of doctors to  participate in Covered California. “It rings true. I’ve been kind of wondering  in my head, ‘How are they offering such low premiums?’ ”

Due to its population size and liberal bent, California will probably become  the first state with lines as long as the ones you’d find in Canada or the UK  for healthcare. Good luck getting medical care in California as Obamacare  progresses – it’s going to be tough.
