At Monday’s White House press briefing, chief spokesman Josh Earnest indicated that in light of the terrorist raid of Charlie Hebdo’s Paris offices by jihadists, President Barack Obama would be taking a serious swipe at the First Amendment freedom of the press as it pertains to future anti-Jihadist articles.

The Daily Caller reported:

President Barack Obama has a moral responsibility to push back on the nation’s journalism community when it is planning to publish anti-jihadi articles that might cause a jihadi attack against the nation’s defenses forces, the White House’s press secretary said Jan. 12.

“The president … will not now be shy about expressing a view or taking the steps that are necessary to try to advocate for the safety and security of our men and women in uniform” whenever journalists’ work may provoke jihadist attacks, spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters at the White House’s daily briefing.

The unprecedented reversal of Americans’ civil-military relations, and of the president’s duty to protect the First Amendment, was pushed by Earnest as he tried to excuse the administration’s opposition in 2012 to the publication of anti-jihadi cartoons by the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.Imperial President Obama kingobamafingerconstitution-300x204

Back in Sept. 2012, then-White House Press Secretary Jay Carney criticized Charlie Hebdo for its publication of cartoon images lampooning Mohammad. He said, according to White House Dossier:

Well, we are aware that a French magazine published cartoons featuring a figure resembling the Prophet Muhammad, and obviously, we have questions about the judgment of publishing something like this. We know that these images will be deeply offensive to many and have the potential to be inflammatory. But we’ve spoken repeatedly about the importance of upholding the freedom of expression that is enshrined in our Constitution.cropped-freedom-is-not-dictator-friendly.pngObama Muslim collection

It’s obvious that the White House, as of Monday, hasn’t backed off from this position.

The First Amendment, as it pertains to the press’ reporting and analyzing of events, provides, “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom … of the press….”

But over and above those rights that are guaranteed and protected under the Constitution, something else is at play here — something advanced by Ross Douthat in his Jan. 7 New York Times commentary:

“If a large enough group of someone is willing to kill you for saying something, then it’s something that almost certainly needs to be said, because otherwise the violent have veto power over liberal civilization, and when that scenario obtains it isn’t really a liberal civilization any more….”

Stated differently, when journalists back off of a story or sanitize its reporting and commentary of events out of fear of terrorist attacks, the terrorists have already won.

The President Keeps Learning About His Administration’s Scandals On the News

find out

President Obama continues to find out about scandals going on inside his own administration from media reports rather than from his staffers.

If he read the Free Beacon, he and his administration might be on top of things a little more quickly.

The latest ugly story that the White House claims Obama only learned of from the news is the VA scandal, where veterans’ hospitals around the country have mistreated or forgotten veterans seeking medical care.

“If you mean the specific allegations that I think were reported first by your network out of Phoenix, I believe we learned about them through the reports,” said Press Secretary Jay Carney Monday. “I will double-check if that’s not the case. But that’s when we learned about them, and that’s when, as I understand it, Secretary Shinseki learned about them and immediately took the action that he has taken, including instigating his own review — or initiating his own review, but also requesting that the Inspector General investigate.”

The story about the Justice Department seizing records from the Associated Press? The news that the IRS had deliberately targeted conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status? The Fast & Furious gun-running scandal? That time the plane flew over Manhattan without authorization?

Obama learned about all of it on the news. Even MSNBC’s Morning Joe compiled a montage of all the times Obama has had his head in the clouds on scandals plaguing his administration.

Why Sean Hannity Believes This Is the ‘Smoking Gun’ on Benghazi [VIDEO]

http://blog.heritage.org/2014/05/01/sean-hannity-believes-smoking-gun-benghazi-video/

Sean Hannity believes Americans now have “cold, hard evidence” of a White House cover-up of the Benghazi terrorist attack.

“The smoking gun is out,” Hannity said about a newly released document dated three days after the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that resulted in the deaths of four Americans.

The document, obtained by Judicial Watch, is an email prepared by Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, for use by Susan Rice, then the Obama administration’s ambassador to the U.N. and now national security adviser.

“There you have it,” Hannity said on his Fox News show Wednesday. “Cold, hard evidence that a high-level White House aide instructed Ambassador Rice to blame Benghazi on a YouTube video.”

Rice’s use of talking points blaming the attack on an anti-Muslim video was widely seen as dooming her prospects of succeeding Hillary Clinton as secretary of state.

During a news briefing yesterday, reporters asked White House press secretary Jay Carney why the Rhodes email wasn’t released earlier. ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl was especially insistent, peppering Carney with a series of questions:

Why were you holding back this information? Why was this email not turned over to the Congress? Why was it not released when you released all the other emails? This is directly relevant. Why did you hold it back? Why did it take a court case for you to release this?

The Heritage Foundation’s Helle Dale said the latest disclosure is fresh evidence of “a cover-up of the awful policy choices that led to Benghazi.” Dale added, “As a consequence, Americans have lost their trust in the administration, the families of the victims continue to suffer, and none of the guilty have been punished.”

A Colorado reporter shows the Washington Press Corpse how to ask about ObamaCare

Joe the Plumber Banner

This clip shows Jay Carney being cornered by a lowly local reporter from Colorado. He’s been in front of Carney before because he notes, at the outset, “the last time I asked you a question you didn’t answer it”. Enjoy the skewering…

Reporter

He prefaces his question by noting that the Democrats passed ObamaCare facing overwhelming poll numbers that said the American people didn’t want it and with a personal shot at Harry Reid when he notes that “the President said you could keep your plan and I know that’s not true because my wife lost hers”.

“We don’t get here very often…” Honestly, you’re not likely to get asked back.

Jay Carney is a dissembling liar. “Do you want quality, affordable health insurance or do you want the insurance company to tell you that you can’t get coverage because of the fine print…” referring to the demon of “pre-existing conditions”.

NEVER FORGET

The pre-existing condition argument made by Democrats is a chain of lies. Forbes deconstructed that argument in just a few words.

According to the latest Census Bureau data, 309 million Americans have health insurance. Of these 4 percent are covered by directly purchased insurance alone. The remaining 96 percent are covered by government or company insurance or some combination. Government health insurance does not allow discrimination based on preexisting conditions. Company insurance typically does not either, insofar as the risk pool is already incorporated in the premiums, and there are portability requirements in moving from company to company.

Thus 12 million people purchased private direct purchased health insurance on the eve of Obama Care. Insurance industry studies show that one in eight applicants for private health insurance have preexisting conditions that affect their eligibility or premiums. This gives a total of 1.5 million Americans who were denied health insurance or paid higher premiums due to pre-existing conditions.

One point-five-million people are impacted because of a pre-existing condition. So the Democrats took over one-sixth of the US economy to “fix” a problem effecting 0.48% of the population. As for the other 99.52% of Americans, our insurance premiums have gone down an average of $2,500 per year increased by an average of 23% according to the Manhattan Institute.

–Average rates will rise in 81% of the 300 age and sex categories, and go down in 19%.

–For all categories in all states, the average increase comes out to 22.8%, with rates going from $268.33 to $329.44 a month, up $61.10. The median increase is just under 32%.

NEVER FORGET

So, on average, consumers with ObamaCare policies saw their insurance cost go up an average of $733.20 vs. the President’s claim of a $2,500 drop. Today, that has only impacted those in the private insurance marketplace because the hit to group plans was delayed until next year by The Imperial President. New pricing on group plans should be out in September/October of this year.

November is a time to exact revenge on the people who’ve been lying to you for the last half-dozen years about this mess called ObamaCare. Republicans need to take back the US Senate and grind this administration to a halt.
