What Did You Say?

Barack Obama has demonstrated a horrible habit of lying. The level and depth of his deceit get worse and worse with every scandal that surrounds his administration. Earlier this week, Obama’s Press Secretary Jay Carney told the White House Press Corps that Obama first heard about the issues regarding the secret waiting lists at VA hospitals from a CNN report. We have learned since then that Carney’s claim is a flat out lie. (Watch Video Below)

The thought that the President of the United States is so detached from reality as well as unaware and uninformed with what is going on in his administration that he would find out major news from CNN is disturbing enough. The fact that Obama and his team lie to the American people so freely and frequently to cover-up their tracks is beyond belief. 

Tuesday night on FOX News’ The Kelly File, Megyn Kelly revealed breaking news that, contrary to his claims, there was new and clear evidence that Barack Obama and his administration were repeatedly and specifically warned that multiple VA medical facilities were ‘cooking their books’ in an effort to cover-up the delay in treatment for our veterans.

Back in 2008, Obama held up what he portrayed as a failure of the Bush administration in the treatment of veterans and their care. Referencing an 89-year old veteran in South Carolina who reportedly committed suicide after continuously being denied treatment, Obama, during a campaign speech in Charleston, West Virginia, said, “How can we let this happen? A Sacred Trust; Support our Veterans. How is this acceptable in the United States of America? The answer is, it’s not. It’s an outrage. And it’s a betrayal, a betrayal of the ideals that we ask our troops to risk their lives for. 

As new revelations are made, it is clear that those were once again ‘words, just words, just speeches’ from then candidate Barack Obama.

In 2008, as he made the transition to the Office of the Presidency, Obama was made aware of massive delays within the VA. He did nothing. Now, a new memo indicates that Obama and his team were informed again in 2010 of not only delays, but also the fact that numerous VA health clinics were cooking the books, lying about the care and treatment of our veterans. To make matters worse, these workers who falsified information in the cover-up in the denial of medical care for veterans were getting paid bonuses based upon their lies. 

As a result of these lies and this pervasive cover-up, veterans died.

Andy McCarthy, National Review contributing editor and a former federal prosecutor, joined Megyn to discuss the very real possibility of a case against the Obama administration in regards to the VA scandal and cover-up.

Megyn Kelly makes clear the warning that Obama and his team were given years ago about the VA.

“I just want to the viewers to know, it is not ‘Hey, wait times are bad,’ which we knew. ‘They’re bad, President Obama. As you take the reigns, be aware.’ It was specific about don’t trust the wait times at the medical facilities are reporting. This is what they were warned. That a VA Inspector General needs to be appointed and you need to test the accuracy of the reported waiting times. Now, here we are six years into the administration. Veterans have been dying, reportedly, because of these wait times. And now, because it’s finally coming to a head, and the President says, ‘I learned about it from press reports.’ Wait can be done? Who can be held accountable?” 

Andy McCarthy’s answer is straight and to the point. 

“In the first place, the political accountability is always more important when you’re dealing with the Executive Branch, than any criminal liability. And the person who’s accountable for the Executive Branch, this is shocking, I know because you never get that sense in the coverage, is the President.”

“This all hits home to me. I am a Viet Nam Vet. I was awarded the Purple Heart for an injury during combat. I have been getting 100% of my healthcare from the VA for several years. I have had great results, poor results and horrible situations. Yes, there is on ongoing wait for appointments. Yes, the VA has gotten worse over the years. Yes, many times I am made to feel like they really want me to die quickly so they won’t have to spend anymore money on me. Although my experience has been varied, I am not surprised by this story. I also am not surprised that the truth about the VA has been held in secret all these years.” JB
