Have you reached the point of being tired of political types treating you like you’re stupid? I am hoping you are, and ready to get up off our apathy and start speaking up (but NOT like the ‘Occupiers’).
In the last couple of weeks I find myself screaming at the pundits, their spokesmen, and the professional pot stirrers, “Hey, I only look this way.” (For those of you needing an explanation, “I only look that stupid”, or, “I am not as stupid as I look.”). For example, there is a man running for District Attorney for the City of Los Angeles claiming that electing him will enable the children to have a fair chance. Sound familiar?
Another one is part of a campaign to raise tax dollars to fight cancer. One of the supposed doctors claim that this bill will keep 200,000 children from smoking cigarettes. And on they go making promises that sound very vague, without any detail, after the pattern of candidate Obama in 2008. Make a lot of promises, keep the promises extremely vague letting the electorate to decide in their own minds what you stand for and will carry out. That way when you fail, you just remind them that you did not make those exact promises, change the mantra, and continue campaigning.
Now you understand the primary reason for the title of this blog. I find myself constantly asking, “What did you say?” These politicians have learned that most of the electorate will NOT hold their feet to the fire about their promises. As a result, they have become so bold as to make statements and promises knowing that you won’t be challenged unless you go on O’Reilly.
Will you join me in putting these politicians’ feet to the fire by challenging them when we can? Attend the rallies. Write the letters. Share blogs like this and let us do all we can to educate the electorate around us making this November the most active in history.
