Attkisson: ‘Overwhelming Body of Evidence’ Benghazi Rescue Teams Turned Back

Wednesday on Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show,” while discussing her Benghazi investigation “Full Measure,” host Sharyl Attkisson said there is now “overwhelming” evidence that rescue teams sent to aid the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012 had turned back before arriving.

Attkisson said, “We also spoke to sources and have some email evidence that talks about special forces that were not far away in Europe that we were told were assigned to respond in the event of a case just like this, and yet were turned back according to witnesses. This is something that the president and the White House has steadfastly denied, but there’s now what I would call an overwhelming body of evidence that leads us to believe that somebody stopped a number of teams and potential rescuers from entering Libya or going to Benghazi to help while those attacks were underway. They could have gotten there. According to experts and people that have information we spoke to, they could have gotten there before the last two Americans died. Those attacks went on for eight hours.”

She added “We spoke to, again a CIA team leader expert, an anti-terrorism expert who says the only person who stops those forces that spun up automatically without waiting to be told—the only force is the commander in chief,  slash the White House, an authority that comes from him.”

There just aren’t that many people in the world who will gamble with their entire career in order to stick by the truth – but Sharyl Attkisson is one of those few. In a world of lapdog journalists – doing their overlord’s bidding – Sharyl is the tip of the spear in true investigative journalism.

In the course of her reporting, she’s been harassed, intimidated, smeared with the most vile of vitriol and been called a “Pit Bull.”… And that’s just her employers – imagine what the people who she exposes as corrupt politicians say?

It ain’t easy when the career you’ve trained for all your life is on the line, but this pit bull doesn’t care. The truth is the truth and no amount of leftist presence at the top of her industry is going to stop her:

In her own words:

Reporters on the ground aren’t necessarily ideological, Attkisson says, but the major network news decisions get made by a handful of New York execs who read the same papers and think the same thoughts.   Often they dream up stories beforehand and turn the reporters into “casting agents,” told “we need to find someone who will say . . .” that a given policy is good or bad. “We’re asked to create a reality that fits their New York image of what they believe,” she writes.   Reporting on the many green-energy firms such as Solyndra that went belly-up after burning through hundreds of millions in Washington handouts, Attkisson ran into increasing difficulty getting her stories on the air. A colleague told her about the following exchange: “[The stories] are pretty significant,” said a news exec.   “Maybe we should be airing some of them on the ‘Evening News?’ ” Replied the program’s chief Pat Shevlin, “What’s the matter, don’t you support green energy?” Says Attkisson: That’s like saying Lib-mask-590-LAyou’re anti-medicine if you point out pharmaceutical company fraud.

In her new book; “Stonewalled: My Fight for Truth Against the Forces of Obstruction, Intimidation, and Harassment in Obama’s Washington”, Attkisson let’s it fly and unloads on her fellow “journalists” in television news for carrying water for their ideology – in favor of the truth.

Hat tip: NY Post:

When the White House didn’t like her reporting, it would make clear where the real power lay. A flack would send a blistering e-mail to her boss, David Rhodes, CBS News’ president — and Rhodes’s brother Ben, a top national security advisor to President Obama.

The administration, with the full cooperation of the media, has successfully turned “Benghazi” into a word associated with nutters, like “Roswell” or “grassy knoll,” but Attkisson notes that “the truth is that most of the damaging information came from Obama administration insiders. From government documents. From sources who were outraged by their own government’s behavior and what they viewed as a cover-up.”   Similarly, though the major media can’t mention the Fast and Furious scandal without a world-weary eye roll, Attkisson points out that the story led to the resignation of a US attorney and the head of the ATF and led President Obama to invoke for the first time “executive privilege” to stanch the flow of damaging information.

Attkisson also unloads on her colleagues in big-time TV news for their cowardice and cheerleading for the Obama administration while unmasking the corruption, misdirection and outright lying of today’s Washington political machine.

Calling herself “politically agnostic,” Attkisson, a five-time Emmy winner, says she simply follows the story, and the money, wherever it leads her.

In nearly 20 years at CBS News, she has done many stories attacking Republicans and corporate America, and she points out that TV Liberal Media Biasnews, being reluctant to offend its advertisers, has become more and more skittish about, for instance, stories questioning pharmaceutical companies or car manufacturers.

“Many in the media,” she writes, “are wrestling with their own souls: They know that ObamaCare is in serious trouble, but they’re conflicted about reporting that. Some worry that the news coverage will hurt a cause that they personally believe in. They’re all too eager to dismiss damaging documentary evidence while embracing, sometimes unquestioningly, the Obama administration’s ever-evolving and unproven explanations.”

One of her bosses had a rule that conservative analysts must always be labeled conservatives, but liberal analysts were simply “analysts.” “And if a conservative analyst’s opinion really rubbed the supervisor the wrong way,” says Attkisson, “she might rewrite the script to label him a ‘right-wing’ analyst.”

HHS HealthCare.gov Official: “Delete this email”

Complete Message

http://sharylattkisson.com/hhs-healthcare-gov-official-delete-this-email/

An email obtained by Congress shows the top official for Healthcare.gov at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under the Department obama cartoon 7of Health and Human Services, Marilyn Tavenner, instructed the agency’s top spokesman to “Please delete this email.”

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Marilyn Tavenner

The instruction appears significant for several reasons: First, the email to be deleted included an exchange between key White House officials and CMS  officials. Second, the email was dated October 5, 2013, five days into the disastrous launch of HealthCare.gov. Third, federal law requires federal officials to retain copies of –not delete– email exchanges. And fourth, the document to be deleted is covered under Congressional subpoena as well as longstanding Freedom of Information requests made by members of the media (including me).

In a letter today, House Energy and Commerce leaders asked Tavenner to explain why she asked her colleague to delete the email, and the letter questions whether there are other instances in which she instructed HHS staff to delete emails. The letter also asks for more details regarding Congressional subpoenaed documents, including Tavenner emails, that CMS recently said might be permanently lost; and it requests an explanation as to why redactions are made in some documents provided to Congress so far.

The meaning of the Tavenner email that she wanted deleted, and the reason why she issued the instruction, isn’t clear. Those copied on the email exchange to be deleted include: Jeanne Lambrew, Obama’s Director of the White House Office of Health Reform. Previously, emails obtained by the House Oversight Committee indicated Lambrew exchanged confidential taxpayer information on organizations with IRS official Sarah Hall Ingram and White House health policy advisor Ellen Montz. White House visitor logs indicate that Lambrew also hosted the vast majority of Ingram’s 165 White House visits. The IRS has been found by independent overseers to have  improperly targeted and harassed conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Incidentally, the IRS has notified Congress that, like HHS, it has “lost” emails responsive to Congressional subpoena).

White House Chief Technology Officer Todd Park

Other names included on the email to be deleted are: White House Chief Technology Officer Todd Park, White House advisor on health care Christopher Jennings, and other HHS and CMS officials.

“[N]ow we know that when HealthCare.gov was crashing, those in charge were hitting the delete button behind the scenes,” said Energy and Commerce chairman Fred Upton (R-MI).

Last week, I sued HHS over its lack of response to my FOI requests regarding HealthCare.gov. Federal officials routinely fail to comply with FOI law. The conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch is assisting with the lawsuit. Judicial Watch has had success in its FOI lawsuits against both the Bush and Obama administrations.

There appears to be no down side for federal officials when they flout FOI law to delay and obfuscate. Even in the relatively rare instances in which they are sued, they pay the legal bills with your tax dollars.

CBS Journalist Sharyl Attkisson Resigns After Pressure Over ‘Anti-Obama’ Reporting

FreedomOutpost_Masthead

http://freedomoutpost.com/2014/03/cbs-journalist-sharyl-attkisson-resigns-pressure-anti-obama-reporting/#wrxuc0vxvzqxLXVh.99

On Monday, long time CBS reporter and five-time Emmy award winning journalist Sharyl Attkisson followed in the footsteps of RT host Liz Wahl by resigning her position at CBS, claiming that the pressure from the pressure that her reporting was overly critical of the Obama administration.Politico reports:

Attkisson, who has been with CBS News for two decades, had grown frustrated with what she saw as the network’s liberal bias, an outsized influence by the network’s corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting, several sources said. She increasingly felt like her work was no longer supported and that it was a struggle to get her reporting on air.

At the same time, Attkisson’s own reporting on the Obama administration, which some staffers characterized as agenda-driven, had led network executives to doubt the impartiality of her reporting. She is currently at work on a book — tentatively titled “Stonewalled: One Reporter’s Fight for Truth in Obama’s Washington” — which addresses the challenges of reporting critically on the Obama administration.

Obviously the executives at CBS believe she is biased because the truth is everyone is biased. There is no such thing as neutrality and we all no it. It’s a myth. The real issue they don’t like is that Attkisson is biased towards truth, not propaganda. When the majority of major news outlets bailed on the Fast and Furious scandal, followed by the Benghazi scandal, Attkisson was there, digging in and trying to discover the truth. In those reports, she didn’t just deal with the Obama administration and Democrats though; she packed some punches in at Republicans as well.

There is no doubt the Obama administration doesn’t like Sharyl Attkisson or reporters like her. Last year the White House and FBI denied her access to Benghazi details and photos in a Freedom of Information Act request. Her computer was discovered to be compromised following the revelation that the Justice Department had been secretly monitoring reporters and editors at the Associated Press.Sonya McNair, the senior vice president for communications for CBS News, said in a statement: “CBS News veteran Sharyl Attkisson is leaving the news division to pursue other endeavors. We appreciate her many contributions and we wish her well.

“Unnamed sources suggested that the issue of political bias is CBS’.

“It’s no secret that Sharyl has been unhappy about CBS’s lack of interest in investigative reporting, especially when it comes to stories about the Obama administration,” a source close to Attkisson said. Again, of course CBS is biased. It’s part of who they are.

While many believe that Wahl’s resignation was a pre-planned stunt, in order to push for a job at CNN (oh the irony after her statements), Attkisson’s appears to be genuine.

My hunch is that there was quite a bit of pressure, and that pressure has been very heavy recently, considering the report that the Obama administration is planning to use the FCC to put monitors in America’s newsrooms.

I for one wish her the best, hoping that she might even send our small outlet an email looking to contribute (and yes, I did tweet her an invitation). I won’t hold my breath.
