Rep. Van Duyne to Newsmax: Far Left ‘Freaked Out’ by FBI Pick

Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, dismissed legacy media’s histrionics over the nomination of Kash Patel for FBI director but told Newsmax she understands why the far left is “freaked out.”

Van Duyne joined “National Report” on Tuesday to discuss President-elect Donald Trump’s choice of Patel, who she says is a reformer who will help root out the deep state from the FBI.

“Legacy media has gone the way of the dodo bird. Nobody’s listening to legacy media. Their narrative fell flat this last election cycle. They’re going to continue to say the worst things ever,” Van Duyne said. “But the legacy media is freaked out, as are a lot of these far-leftists, because they recognize that a new sheriff is in town.

“Kash Patel is another strong, very strong individual that Trump has nominated to do a job that should have been done for decades and has not been done. [Trump] is putting very strong people in these positions that are going to change the deep state. And the deep state is going to fight like hell to keep it the way it is.”

Van Duyne also acknowledged a possible connection between the nomination of Patel and President Joe Biden’s sweeping pardon for first son Hunter Biden a day later. It’s possible, she said, that Joe Biden was not going to leave anything to chance with Patel potentially in charge of investigating the Bidens.

“As a parent, my heart goes out. And I don’t know that anybody being honest with themselves can say as a parent they wouldn’t have done the same thing,” Van Duyne said of the pardon. “But the fact is, is that you have an individual who he is pardoning for all crimes that have not even been charged against him for almost an 11-year period.

“[H]e has pardoned his son, a son who has pled guilty, who has been tried and found guilty by a jury. This was not politically motivated. These were crimes … that were held against him that he actually committed; he admitted to committing. And this was under the Biden DOJ. This was not under a Trump DOJ.”

Van Duyne added: “Legitimately, this is covering up, again, the crime family that we have seen from the Biden … family now for decades that the deep state has continued to cover up.”

Jason Miller to Newsmax: Harris ‘Did Not Look Presidential’

By Theodore Bunker    |   Friday, 30 August 2024 11:11 AM EDT

Jason Miller, senior adviser to former President Donald Trump’s campaign, told Newsmax on Friday that Vice President Kamala Harris’s recent interview on CNN “was weird” and “did not look presidential.”

Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, sat down for an interview with CNN on Thursday evening, their first with a major news network since launching their campaign for the White House. Miller, in an appearance on “Wake Up America” Friday morning, criticized the “optics” of the interview, saying that “it did not look presidential.”

He said, “There’s a certain threshold that you have to meet when you’re looking presidential. Can you lead this country? Other candidates in the past have had it. I don’t see that with Kamala Harris.”

Miller also said that the interview “was weird” and said that the vice president “looked as though she’d been called in by her teacher in the principal to say, Kamala, you have not been to class one day in three and a half years, it’s time to talk about your record.’ And on that record, she had no good answers.”

He went on to say that Harris was “vague” in her answers and criticized her defense of her recent policy shifts by saying, “My values haven’t changed.”

Miller said, “The ‘my values haven’t changed’ got three mentions, and crime, for example, got zero mentions.”

Rep. Spartz to Newsmax: GOP ‘Will Hold the Ground on Border Security’

By Theodore Bunker    |   Friday, 15 December 2023 02:33 PM EST

Rep. Victoria Spartz, R-Ind., told Newsmax on Friday that Republicans must make it clear that they “will hold the ground on border security” when it comes to passing additional aid for Ukraine. Spartz, the first native Ukrainian to serve in U.S. Congress, told “Newsline” in an interview that there’s “no doubt” that negotiations on a deal on border security and Ukraine aid haven’t progressed as far as some would hope.

She said that Republicans must ensure that “Democrats understand … that we will hold the ground on border security because if we don’t protect our country there is no hope for anyone else in the world.”

Spartz went on to accuse President Joe Biden of “slow-walking aid to Ukraine” and allowing Russian President Vladimir Putin “to advance that far and fortify … which costs a lot of money and a lot of lives for Ukrainians.”

She continued, “I think we need to be tougher, but we have to have … [an] agreement on border security and [Biden] needs to understand we will hold the ground.”

The congresswoman said Biden is “getting better” when it comes to policies for asylum seekers, “but he’s not willing to … tighten the parole that he’s been abusing.”

Dershowitz to Newsmax: Jan. 6 Case ‘Probably’ Applies to Trump

By Nicole Wells    |   Thursday, 14 December 2023 01:11 PM EST

Read more at https://www.newsmax.com/newsmax-tv/alan-dershowitz-newsmax-donald-trump/2023/12/14/id/1145965/

Constitutional law expert Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax on Thursday that the Jan. 6 case the Supreme Court has agreed to take up “probably” applies to former President Donald Trump, in addition to a number of other Jan. 6 defendants, including his client.

“Look, these were not obstructions of justice,” Dershowitz said during an appearance on “National Report.” “These were attempts to exercise First Amendment rights to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Some of the people went too far and destroyed property, but those people who just tried to influence the congressional hearings were exercising their constitutional right.

“They’re entitled to do it, and I think the court will render a ruling in which it says that the indictments of many of the people went too far by charging obstruction of justice.”

“It doesn’t apply to everybody, but I think it probably does apply to President Trump,” he continued. “He, too, as a citizen, had the right to petition his government for what he believed was a redress of grievances.

“He was wrong, in my view, but that doesn’t affect his legal claim of acting under the First Amendment. So, I think the Supreme Court may very well render a ruling that helps former President Trump, helps my client and helps many others who were swept up in this.

“It’s very important that everybody be treated as individuals. If you did something, if you went in there and you destroyed property deliberately, that’s one thing. But if you simply objected to the way in which the votes were counted, even if you were wrong, that’s a complete defense under the Constitution.”

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court agreed to decide if a man involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol Building can be charged with obstructing an official proceeding. Defendant Joseph Fischer, who was indicted on seven charges following the Jan. 6 protest, is 1 of at least 325 people facing that charge for their alleged roles in the incident. The charge has also been brought against Trump in the federal case charging him with trying to overturn the 2020 election results.

In agreeing to take up the case, the justices made no mention of the Trump prosecution, but legal experts say Trump’s lawyers could argue that the court’s move should delay the start of the trial, slated to begin in March.

Dershowitz said everything, for both Trump and the Department of Justice, comes down to “timing,” given next year’s November presidential election.

“The prosecutors want a down and dirty conviction to affect the election, before the election, knowing that they very well may be reversed on appeal, but that will be too late to affect the election,” he said. “And so both sides are playing the timing game and timing is always up to the judges themselves — how quickly they put the case on, how quickly they decide the case. There’s very little anybody can do to affect the timing of judges.”

“But it really affects all of us because there are many Americans who won’t vote for somebody who has been convicted of a serious felony, whether it be on the Democratic side or the Republican side,” he continued. “So, the criminal justice system has been weaponized by both sides to try to influence the election and the losers are the American public.

“We’re not getting fair justice on either side. We’re getting politicized, weaponized, partisan justice.”

Sen. Graham to Newsmax: Venezuelan Work Permits Will Bring ‘Another Million’ to US

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told Newsmax on Thursday that the Biden administration offering work permits to almost half a million Venezuelans currently living in the United States will cause “another million to come.”

Graham told “Wake Up America” that the United States has “completely lost control of the southern border, and how smart do you have to be to figure out what will happen next if you give 470,000 Venezuelans work permits, you’re going to get another million to come. People will be attracted by that move.”

He went on to say, “In the supplemental sent to Congress to help with emergencies, you know what the Biden administration did on border security? They defunded ICE, the enforcement part of immigration, they took money from ICE and we’re going to put it into community shelters, which means more space for illegal immigrants.”

Graham said that the Biden administration has “done everything but take an ad out all over the world: Come to America, if you get here you’ll never leave.”

He added, “These people are either incompetent or they’re doing it on purpose, and I think they’re doing it on purpose.”

KT McFarland to Newsmax: Impeachment Gives Dems ‘Excuse’ to Oust Biden

By Nicole Wells    |   Wednesday, 30 August 2023 10:45 AM EDT

Read more at https://www.newsmax.com/newsmax-tv/kt-mcfarland-newsmax-joe-biden/2023/08/30/id/1132610/

Former Deputy National Security Adviser KT McFarland told Newsmax on Wednesday that if House Republicans began impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden, it could give Democrats the political cover they need to select a new nominee for 2024.

“Maybe what happens is, as they look into what he [Biden] said [in emails using a pseudonym] — and impeachment allows you to look at a lot of corners that otherwise Congress and congressional committees couldn’t look into — what if they start finding stuff?” McFarland said on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America.” “And then you marry that up with Joe Biden, who’s clearly declining very rapidly mentally and physically, that gives the Democrats every excuse they need to jettison Joe Biden.”

The National Archives and Records Administration on Tuesday acknowledged its possession of approximately 5,400 emails that contain pseudonyms that Biden was known to use during his time as vice president. The agency’s confirmation of the existence of the records came in response to a June 2022 Freedom of Information Act request by the Southeastern Legal Foundation. The nonprofit constitutional legal group requested emails relating to the accounts of Robin Ware, Robert L. Peters, and JRB Ware — pseudonyms Joe Biden was known to use in the Obama White House.

“The reason Joe Biden wants to cling onto this [the presidency], and, obviously, he likes the perks of office, but all the people underneath him — all the advisers, the Cabinet officers – they want to keep Joe Biden in place because they’re running the show,” McFarland said.

“If [California Gov.] Gavin Newsom, somebody else, gets the nomination, somebody else, some other Democrat, gets elected, these guys are out of a job. So that’s why they’re pushing to keep Biden in as long as he’s got a pulse.”

Commenting on White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s exchange with CNN host Jake Tapper, in which Tapper was pressing Jean-Pierre about Biden’s age and stamina, McFarland said, “I think they’re [CNN] reading the tea leaves.”

“I think they’re looking at Joe Biden and saying he’s vulnerable, he’s weak, he’s aging very quickly, and so, if somebody’s going to make a move, they’ve got to start making a move now,” she said. “I think CNN, all the other mainstream media, they’re going to start hedging their bets.”

A new Siena Research poll shows less than half of New York Democrats want their party to nominate Biden as their 2024 presidential candidate. Just 47% said the party should pick Biden, versus 46% who said the Democratic Party should pick someone else. The remaining 7% were unsure.

Horowitz to Newsmax: Dems Have ‘Mentality of Gangsters’

By Nicole Wells    |   Wednesday, 14 June 2023 01:14 PM EDT

Bestselling author David Horowitz told Newsmax on Wednesday that the federal indictment against former President Donald Trump is an example of how “unprincipled” and gangster-like the Democrats have become.

“The Democrats are a totalitarian party,” Horowitz said on Newsmax’s “National Report.” “Their mentality is that of gangsters. Just for example, the idea of taking out your chief political opponent, who is leading the field of Republicans by 30 points and leading [President] Joe Biden by almost 10, that is so un-American.

“That is such a travesty, attack on our system, election interference, partisanship run wild. It’s a very sad day for America, but I think Trump will benefit from this, the way he has every time.”

Horowitz said sales of his book, “Final Battle: The Next Election Could be the Last,” spike along with Trump’s poll numbers when the former president gets indicted.

“I can tell from my book: every time Trump gets indicted, my book sales go up,” Horowitz said. “And every time he gets indicted, his poll numbers go up.”

Horowitz argues in his book that Democrats are wielding wokeism, racism, the FBI, and white supremacy as weapons to accomplish their goals of establishing a one-party political state controlled by the far left.

“This has been played out in front of the American people,” he said. “It’s not a mystery anymore. To see how unprincipled the Democrats are, they have the mentality of gangsters. They have no respect for the Constitution or the traditions of this country.”

Horowitz then pointed to the restraint Trump exercised as president when it came to his Democrat rival, Hillary Clinton.

“When Trump was president, even though his crowds were chanting, ‘Lock her up!’ about Hillary, he didn’t do it,” Horowitz said. “He could have done it and he didn’t do it out of respect for the American tradition, which is you can’t have a democracy unless you have some respect for your opposition.

“And the Democrats have nothing but contempt for the 74 million people who voted for Trump in the last election.”

In February, Trump praised Horowitz’s “Final Battle,” calling it “great” and urged his followers to pick up a copy.

“My great friend and author of ‘Dark Agenda,’ David Horowitz, is out with a new book, ‘Final Battle: The Next Election Could Be the Last,'” Trump said. “It is great! Get your copy!”

Megyn Kelly: Tucker Carlson Firing Driving Fox Audience to Newsmax

Former Fox News Channel show host Megyn Kelly told her podcast audience on Thursday that FNC’s decision to fire prime time anchor Tucker Carlson is driving its viewers to Newsmax. The statement during her Thursday program, “The Megyn Kelly Show,” came in a conversation with Melissa Francis, another a former Fox News and Fox Business anchor and host who left News Corp.

“What if Tucker actually went to 8 p.m. on Newsmax – our friend Eric Bolling is there now, who we both love — and I’m just saying what if he moved to 8 and Eric moved to 9?” Kelly asked rhetorically. “Just this past week, during the 8 p.m. hour, Eric averaged 562,000 viewers. Last Tuesday he averaged 122,000.

“So, the Fox News audience is going ‘click’ and moving over to Newsmax right now. Imagine if it were Tucker in that spot.”

Kelly preceded her remarks by saying that Newsmax was in 20 million fewer homes than Fox, which made its jump in numbers even more impressive. The actual number is 24 million fewer homes, Newsmax said.

Kelly’s comment came after Fox News ended Carlson’s show after his April 21 broadcast and announced the change Monday. Fox News Channel has since seen its audience during the Carlson hour plummet, with 2.6 million tuning in Monday to watch, a figure that dropped to 1.7 million on Tuesday and only 1.3 million on Wednesday — a 59% drop from Carlson’s average rating.

Fox has not announced a new host for the slot and appears to be rotating popular network figures like Brian Kilmeade.

As Kelly noted, Newsmax, conversely, has seen its average audience at 8 p.m. with “Eric Bolling The Balance” soar by 261% to an average 534,000 viewers. Nielsen data indicates that Newsmax was drawing 57% of Fox’s audience on a proportional basis Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Fox News Ratings Collapse by 50% as Newsmax Soars

By Newsmax Wires | Friday, 28 April 2023 01:47 PM EDT

Read more at https://www.newsmax.com/newsmax-tv/newsmax-fox-tucker-carlson/2023/04/28/id/1117912/

After Tucker Carlson’s firing from Fox News this past Monday, the network has witnessed a collapse in ratings — especially in its 8 p.m. ET prime-time slot. For years Tucker Carlson owned this prime time for Fox, drawing an average 3.2 million viewers a night.

Not anymore.

This week, Fox News Channel saw its audience during the Carlson hour plummet, with 2.6 million tuning in Monday to watch. Things got even worse for Fox on Tuesday, with 1.7 million viewers tuning in. But Wednesday, Fox saw a catastrophic drop to just 1.3 million viewers — a 59% drop from Carlson’s average rating.

Fox has not announced a new host for the slot and appears to be rotating popular network figures such as Brian Kilmeade.

While Fox is hemorrhaging viewers, Newsmax is the primary beneficiary. Within the cable universe, Newsmax saw its average audience at 8 p.m. with “Eric Bolling The Balance” soar by 261% to an average 534,000 viewers. But Newsmax notes that it’s available in 24 million fewer cable homes than Fox, making its viewership even more impressive for its cable distribution.

Nielsen data indicates that Newsmax was drawing 57% of Fox’s audience on a proportional basis Wednesday at 8 p.m. And Newsmax is free currently on most major OTT (over the top) platforms, giving it a boost of 400,000 additional viewers at the 8 p.m. hour not counted by Nielsen. Newsmax even beat CNN based on proportional viewership with a .43 share against “Anderson Cooper 360” at just .37.

MSNBC, however, was also a winner Wednesday, with “All in With Chris Hayes” topping Fox with close to 1.34 million viewers.

Fox’s decision to remove Carlson appears to have been shortsighted, with little planning for a replacement. Carlson’s departure came after Fox’s startling $787 million settlement made two weeks ago with Dominion Voting Systems. While some have pointed to Carlson’s involvement in the case, neither Fox nor Carlson has disclosed the reason for his dismissal.

On Wednesday, Fox’s sister company, SkyNews Australia, offered a lengthy editorial slamming the former host claiming he was “sacked essentially for thinking that he was bigger than Fox News.”

Carlson himself has not criticized Fox, but in a Twitter video released earlier this week he decried woke culture and said, “At the same time the liars, who are trying to silence them, honest people, shrink. They become weaker.”

Fox’s ratings this week suggest that reality.
