Rep. Chris Deluzio has become the first congressional Democrat to call for Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s resignation amid a controversy involving his hospitalization and medical treatment.

“I have lost trust in Secretary Lloyd Austin’s leadership of the Defense Department due to the lack of transparency about his recent medical treatment and its impact on the continuity of the chain of command,” Deluzio, a Pennsylvania Dem, said in a statement, according to a report from Politico.

The lawmaker thanked Austin for his service and wished him a speedy recovery. Politico said Deluzio represents a swing district.

But the lawmaker also said “I have a solemn duty in Congress to conduct oversight of the Defense Department through my service on the House Armed Services Committee. That duty today requires me to call on Secretary Austin to resign.”

Austin, being treated for prostate cancer and a urinary tract infection, remains hospitalized and is in good condition, the Pentagon said on Wednesday, adding that it still does not have a specific date for his release.

Austin’s hospitalization for complications following prostate cancer surgery was not disclosed to the public, the White House or Congress for much of last week, triggering a political backlash and prompting a congressional investigation.

Austin, 70, was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland on Dec. 22 to treat prostate cancer. He returned to the hospital on Jan. 1 due to complications including a urinary tract infection and has remained there ever since.

Austin’s effort to keep his treatment completely private has raised questions about whether he broke rules about notifications to Congress and embarrassed U.S. President Joe Biden, who did not learn that Austin was hospitalized until Jan. 4 and learned on Jan. 9 that he had prostate cancer.

The White House and the Pentagon have so far dismissed calls for Austin to be fired.

It’s Joe Biden, Not Tommy Tuberville, Who Brought The ‘Culture War’ To The Military

Tommy Tuberville and Joe Biden

Since February, Alabama Republican Tommy Tuberville has been using a “senatorial hold” to block personnel moves by the U.S. military that require Senate confirmation. The media and Democrats are very upset that Tuberville is “waging an unprecedented campaign” and embroiling our vital national defense policy in the culture war.

Joe Biden claims that Republicans are “injecting into fundamental foreign policy decisions what in fact is a domestic social debate on social issues is bizarre,” which is “totally irresponsible.” While I don’t know much about Tommy Tuberville, the president has it backward. It was Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, not any Republican, who broke with 45 years of policy last year by instituting effective reimbursements for elective abortions by military and dependents. It is just as true to say, probably truer, that the president is the one holding up military promotions by unilaterally trashing policy that has been in place since 1980.

One of the implications of most stories covering the military hold debate illustrates the radically rightward shift and unprecedented fanaticism of Republican politics. This, too, is backward. Biden, who supported the Hyde Amendment, a law banning federal funds to pay for abortion, from 1976-2019, is an exemplar of the hard-left cultural lurch of the modern left. Biden had not merely gone along with the Hyde Amendment as a means of compromising with Republicans back in the ’80s and ’90s. Until the past couple of decades, the abortion debate wasn’t neatly divided by party, and Biden, purportedly a devout Catholic, had to keep conservative working-class Delawarean voters happy. In 1994, the future president wrote a letter to a constituent bragging that he had voted against abortion funding on 50 occasions.

Like most things Biden says, this was probably untrue. But he did vote to save the Hyde Amendment repeatedly over the decades. Biden also voted against allowing Medicaid to fund abortions, even for victims of rape and incest. He supported a Jesse Helms amendment that would have prohibited using federal funds for abortions and abortion research or training. Biden voted numerous times to prohibit the Federal Employees Health Benefits program from funding abortions for government workers.

Indeed, Biden was constantly “injecting into fundamental foreign policy decisions what in fact is a domestic social debate on social issues.” He didn’t merely support banning public funding for abortion in the United States; he wrote an amendment to Foreign Assistance Act — for years, referred to as the “Biden amendment” — that barred U.S. foreign aid from being used in any research related to abortions. In 1984, Biden supported the “Mexico City policy,” banning federal funding for private organizations that provide abortion, advocate to decriminalize abortion, or expand abortion services.

Even on June 5, 2019, not long after his 2020 presidential campaign kickoff, Biden publicly reaffirmed his support for the Hyde Amendment. The very next day, after some criticism from primary opponents, the spineless candidate changed his position and “denounce[d]” the Hyde Amendment. For what it’s worth, virtually every poll on the question of public funding for abortion, even ones that offer a misleading framing of the issue, find most Americans support banning taxpayer funding for abortions. Poll support doesn’t mean much in my book, but it does put to rest the idea that Tuberville is taking on some kind of fanatical position outside the mainstream.

Then again, today, Biden, the man who twice voted for partial-birth abortion bans and once supported overturning Roe v. Wade, backs state-funded abortions on demand from conception to crowning for any reason, including eugenics and sex-selective abortion. And, for the first time in history, he wants to implement that policy in the military. Bizarre, indeed.

‘Black people are locked out from employment’: Black rights groups in Austin march for 2A and against illegal immigration

By CORTNEY WEIL | September 27, 2022

Several black rights groups in Texas recently took to the state capital of Austin to protest against illegal immigration and in favor of their Second Amendment rights and black reparations. On Saturday, the groups, led by the Elmer Geronimo Pratt Pistol and Rifle Gun Club, held the third annual “Second Amendment Unity Walk,” chanting various slogans, including:

  • “What do we want?” “Closed borders!” “When do we want them?” “Now!”
  • “Guns up!” “Shoot back!”
  • “Black power!”
  • “We all we got!” “We all we need!”

They also carried a banner that read, “REPARATIONS NOW!”

One person reportedly even tried to begin a “Build the wall!” chant in reference to former President Trump’s call to build a wall on the U.S. southern border, but the rest of the crowd did not follow along with it.

At least one group leader stated very candidly that the marchers do not necessarily align with those on the political right.

“Republicans, do not dare to make the mistake of thinking you will get our vote just because we believe in exercising our Second Amendment,” the unnamed woman said into a microphone.

“Yes, I’m talking to you, [Senator] Ted Cruz and Governor [Greg] Abbott,” she continued. “Don’t think we are standing with you because we are against illegal immigration.”

Various speakers also called out Vice President Kamala Harris for failing to protect black Americans by failing to secure the border. The founder of the EGP gun club, Nick Bezzel, elaborated on the reasons why his fellow marchers believe illegal immigration is particularly harmful to the black community.

“We don’t have a problem with immigration itself,” Bezzel said, “but we do have a problem with illegal immigration because, a lot of times, jobs are taken away from black people.

“Black people are locked out from employment due to illegal immigration,” he added.

Bezzel also argued that reparations are a matter of justice.

“What we don’t want to hear is ‘America doesn’t have the money,'” he said, especially as the federal government continues to send money overseas to foreign allies such as Ukraine.

Now that the march is over, the gun club and other groups say they plan to continue lobbying politicians in Austin until they address what marchers called the “black agenda.”

And the gun club views the so-called “black agenda” as multifaceted. In addition to advocating for “responsible gun ownership, gun safety, and protecting our Black communities,” the EGP also works to end no-knock raids and collects food, clothing, and hygiene products for the homeless and those in single-parent homes. Whether the club distributes these items exclusively to black recipients is unclear.

Texas Police Group Fed Up With Defund Movement – Buys Billboard To Warn Citizens Who Enter Austin

Texas Police Group Fed Up With Defund Movement – Buys Billboard To Warn Citizens Who Enter Austin

Many Americans are concerned about major cities defunding their police departments, and one police group is taking bold, public action to put a stop to it.

To the shock of many, the City of Austin, Texas, voted to slash millions from their own police budget. And it hasn’t gone unnoticed. A major police union is fighting back by putting up billboards. What’s on them?

They are warning Texans to think twice before entering the city. Watch out, folks!

The Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) has put up two billboards along Interstate 35 entering Austin after the city council voted last month to cut the Austin police budget. One of them reads: “Warning! Austin defunded police. Enter at your own risk!”

Image

The second says, “Limited support next 20 miles,” according to the association.

The Texas Municipal Police Association is not putting up with these dangerous and unpopular policies. So far, they put up two billboards, letting people know that—thanks to liberals on the city council—Austin police have fewer resources to keep them safe.

Blue states may be used to these sorts of activities to weaken the police, but red states like Texas are fighting back. Texas Gov. Abbott himself criticized the move by the Austin city council, showing his support for Texas law enforcement. He is even threatening cutting state funding to any city that defunds police. This goes along with measures the president himself has discussed to hold accountable cities that defund their police.

Recently, the president has considered cutting federal funds from major, left-wing cities that have defunded police and let offenders run loose. Police officers have been largely ignored by the MSM, as radical activists protest and slander them. But in recent months, police unions have become more and more vocal, defending their members—who put their lives on the line every day.

Don’t be surprised if more billboards pop up around Austin. Or in other parts of the country.

Do you support defunding the police – or do you back our men and women in blue?

Key Takeaways:

  • The City of Austin slashed millions from the police budget.
  • The TMPA posted billboards, warning people traveling into the city.
  • The governor personally criticized cities that seek to defund police.
