How a Conservative Group’s Door-to-Door Push Added 80,000+ Voters in Key Swing States

Four years ago, President-to-be Joe Biden narrowly won the swing states of Arizona and Georgia by about 11,000 votes each. This time around, Heritage Action for America was determined to ensure residents of both states were registered to vote in the 2024 presidential election. This year, the conservative grassroots organization kicked its voter registration efforts into high gear. As a result of Heritage Action’s nonstop effort to boost voter turnout on Nov. 5, the registration rolls in Arizona and Georgia alone saw an increase of more than 80,000 voters this cycle.  

Former President Donald Trump won Georgia on Tuesday, and while The Associated Press still has not called Arizona for him, as of midafternoon Friday, he holds a 52.6% to 46.5% lead over Vice President Kamala Harris.

In 2020, it was a different story. After years of Republican victories, Biden won Georgia by 11,779 votes and he took Arizona by 10,457 votes. Biden’s winning margin was 20,682 in another swing state, Wisconsin. 

“Nationwide, Biden’s Electoral College victory was secured by only 44,000 votes in three states, underscoring the potential outcome-changing power of Heritage Action’s targeted voter registration and turnout effort in those states,” said a press release from Heritage Action, an independent partner of The Heritage Foundation. 

Heritage Action announced in early July that it would continue in its “strategic effort to register enough voters in key swing states to give conservative candidates the electoral edge ahead of the election in November.” 

Heritage Action hired 14 people to do full-time door-knocking in the state of Arizona and 36 people in Georgia. They door-knocked on 250,000 homes, sent 5.2 million text messages to those people, and conducted 90,000 live calls back to those homes. As a result, Heritage Action registered 81,000 people across those two states. 

“We were having conversations, listening, importantly, to the people and the concerns that they had,” Heritage Action Executive Vice President Ryan Walker told The Daily Signal.  

One of the key issues that affected the suburban women’s vote was energy-efficiency requirements for home appliances, according to Walker. Most people don’t know that the federal government sets energy-efficiency standards for those appliances. 

“This is a really important point, because Trump ended up winning suburban women 51% to 47%, and so we were able to connect the dots between [what] … certainly was put on steroids under the Biden-Harris regime to effectively do away with the efficiency of your home appliances,” Walker said. 

Heritage Action has equipped more than 2 million activists positioned nationwide to fight for key conservative policy issues. The organization’s Sentinels program trains more than 20,000 everyday citizens to go out into the political battlefields of their communities, local institutions, and state governments to uphold right-leaning principles. 

This election cycle alone, six Heritage Action “Sentinels” won races across their states. Here is a list of them: 

  • In Georgia, Noelle Kahaian won a state House race for District 81. 
  • In Missouri, Cathy Jo Loy won a state House for District 163. 
  • In Oklahoma, Mark Chapman won a state House for District 12.  
  • In Texas, Hillary Hickland won a state House race for District 55.  
  • In Utah, Lisa Shepherd won a state House race for District 61. 
  • Randy Hough won reelection to his Board of Education seat in the Fayette County Public Schools to represent District 1 in Georgia.  

“Our work has only just begun,” Walker said in a statement. “Over the next four years, we will continue the fight to reverse the Left’s disastrous immigration policies and secure the border, cut taxes for hardworking Americans, and reduce the skyrocketing inflation that has crippled the economy.”

Heritage Action was proud to be part of “one of the best ground games that the conservative movement has ever put together,” Walker said. 

“I think that we’re in the golden era of conservative politics and Republican control of all aspects of government,” he said. “And for that, I think that we should be really excited.”

From 2004 until 2019, the responsibility to enforce law and order in San Francisco fell to District Attorney Kamala Harris and her protégé George Gascon. The result? By any estimation, it has been an ignominious disaster. Even as you drive from the airport to downtown in this once great city, the sight that greets you off the highway is streets with empty storefronts — like broken teeth, jagged and sad.

In the Tenderloin District it gets worse, far worse, and it isn’t getting any better, in fact, much the opposite. The last time I was in the City by the Bay was in 2021, and I struggled then to describe the craven brutality of the homelessness and drug addiction. Let me try again.

SAN FRANCISCO POLICE OFFICERS FORCED TO WORK OVERTIME DUE TO STAFF SHORTAGE: REPORT 

Just off Union Square, I wandered down to the nice coffee house where I spent my mornings three years ago. It’s gone now. Boarded up. Out in front, addicts assembled under the amused eyes of security guards who seem to think this is normal.  Just up the block, the smell hit me first. It didn’t last time, but now, a fetid stench of human degradation that New Yorkers know only from an unfortunate subway car choice, simply hangs in the air. You can’t even smell the weed.

Dogs abound, barking in the midst of this misery. At least they know something is amiss. In tents, the poor forgotten of this city languish, selling drugs, not joints, not a bag of weed, but life-threatening heroin and fentanyl right out in the open. The scale of human tragedy is laid bare by the proximity of wealth to squalor, of healthy and beautiful minds and bodies to squandered lives doped out and laid out beneath signs for Saks Fifth Avenue and Tiffany & Co. 

HARRIS DOES ABOUT-FACE ON SEVERAL FAR-LEFT POLICIES, DISTANCES HERSELF FROM BIDEN

The well-heeled set headed for the Apple Store seem to pretend it isn’t happening. But to an outsider, it is as clear as the summer sun. You can’t buy beef jerky here. You can try, but at the Walgreens near my upscale hotel, the dehydrated travelers treat is behind lock and key. The customer service button might as well be connected to some remote outpost in Antarctica. After 5 minutes you just leave.

During COVID, I used the analogy of pointillist painting to describe the ever-encroaching rules. It’s just a mask, it’s just six feet, it’s just remote learning, each was a point on a canvas, but when you stepped back, you saw a picture of a prison. So, too, in San Francisco, the little horrors add up to a city of nightmares. 

Anyone from any city in the northeast of our great country will say after five minutes that San Francisco is a dystopian disaster, but many of the people here, like frogs slowly boiling, think it’s normal. Is this what Vice President Kamala Harris, one of the architects of this misery, has in mind for all of us? 

Next week, at her convention, the hand-picked Democratic nominee — whom nobody voted for — will try to convince us that her record of failure is not her record of failure. But the chaotic streets of San Francisco tell a different story.  This is real. It is horrible. And no amount of well-off liberals posting photos next to the Golden Gate Bridge can truly hide the depravity of it all. And yeah, maybe the cops and the spaghetti strainer of a District Attorney’s office wrought by Harris keep their wealthy enclaves safe, but everyone else is in dire straits.

No matter how big your britches get, you can’t hide from your hometown. There, people know you, they know your story, and the story of Kamala Harris and San Francisco is a warning bell that America needs to hear.

Not far from the Tenderloin I found a curious object; one of the finest street clocks in all America. At one point, it was insured by Lloyd’s of London. You can view its gears and workings. It is a beautiful clock, reminiscent of the one that graces New York’s Grand Central.  It also doesn’t work. The face of this storied clock is set to the advertiser’s time of 10:10, and twice a day it is right as the saying goes. But why is it broken? How much would it cost to make this piece of history tick again? Why isn’t anyone doing it?

These are all questions for the presumptive Democratic nominee, who takes no questions. But she cannot hide from San Francisco. This is her legacy. And like the broken clock, it just flat out doesn’t work.

THE DAILY CALLER NEWS FOUNDATION—Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff called on President Joe Biden to leave the 2024 presidential race on Wednesday. Schiff—a high-profile Democrat—made a public appeal to Biden to quit the race so that a different candidate can be on the ticket against former President Donald Trump in November, the congressman told the Los Angeles Times. The California Democrat, who is also running for Senate, becomes the 21st congressional Democrat to have called upon Biden to drop out following the president’s disastrous performance in his first presidential debate against Trump in June, according to The New York Times.

Biden “has been one of the most consequential presidents in our nation’s history, and his lifetime of service as a Senator, a Vice President, and now as President has made our country better,” Schiff said in his statement to the Los Angeles Times. “But our nation is at a crossroads. A second Trump presidency will undermine the very foundation of our democracy, and I have serious concerns about whether the president can defeat Donald Trump in November.”

The decision about whether to stay in the race “is President Biden’s alone,” Schiff told the outlet, adding that he thinks it is time for Biden “to pass the torch” to a different candidate and “secure his legacy of leadership.” However, Schiff made clear to the outlet that he will still support Biden or whoever else may be on the ticket in November.

“I will do everything I can to help them succeed,” Schiff told the Los Angeles Times. “There is only one singular goal: defeating Donald Trump. The stakes are just too high.”

The internal Democratic effort to push Biden out of the race is reportedly back on after the failed assassination attempt against Trump on Saturday altered the nation’s political landscape. Numerous national, swing state and internal polls show that Trump is currently in the driver’s seat as November draws closer, prompting a major Democratic concern about Biden’s prospects and even the outcomes of key congressional races down the ballot.

Moreover, leading Democratic donors are reportedly freezing about $90 million in donations to a major pro-Biden political action committee (PAC) unless or until Biden gets out of the race. However, the president has so far shown no intention of stepping aside to make space for a different candidate to run against Trump, as he and his campaign have both vociferously dismissed suggestions that he should quit as an elite narrative that is out of touch with how voters feel about the president and his record.

Schiff, one of the leading promoters of the debunked Russiagate investigation into Trump, won the Democratic primary for the Senate seat currently occupied by fellow Democrat LaPhonza Butler. The late Democratic California Sen. Dianne Feinstein formerly occupied the seat, to which Butler was appointed by Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom after Feinstein passed away in September 2023.

Democrats don’t get a do-over just because of Biden’s debate meltdown

The vaunted saviors of democracy in the Democratic Party were ready to throw out all the norms this summer to make sure voters keep them in power. Unfortunately for them, the calendar is not their friend.  With just four months before the general election ends, Democrats and their advocates in the media began floating the idea of changing the primary rules just ahead of the finish line.  Calling for a “blitz primary,” two influential Democrats this past week unveiled a plan to essentially redo the primary.

Candidates, including Vice President Kamala Harris, would have one month to campaign to delegates of the Democratic National Committee ahead of the Aug. 19 convention. Star-studded candidate forums would be held weekly. The nominee would be selected via ranked choice voting at convention.  

BIDEN CALLS ‘MORNING JOE,’ DENOUNCES MEDIA AND POLITICAL ELITES AS DEMOCRATS WARN OF TRUMP VICTORY

It’s an entirely new process, thrown together on the fly. One that seeks to preserve power by disenfranchising the party’s own voters. And one that requires them to find an extra-constitutional way to oust a sitting president of their own party – since Biden has made it clear he’s not going anywhere, at least for the moment.   

It’s not going to work this time. You don’t get to redo your primary because someone had a bad debate or the truth is suddenly exposed. You don’t get to change the rules the moment it looks like you won’t win. They are stuck with Biden-Harris.

Too many voters have had enough of the gaslighting, the dishonesty, and the hyperbole of Democrats in government and media since the debate exposed their duplicity. The debate was an a-ha moment for many voters (excepting, of course, those who tune in to Fox News. You all saw this coming from a mile away). Since the debate, the truth that Democrats have so desperately tried to hide has been on full display.

They have only themselves to blame if voters now exhibit a new skepticism of the party that laughably purports to save democracy.

More voters may now come to realize that for Democrats, gaming the system is par for the course. They aren’t protectors of democracy. They’re protectors of power.  

Even as the party made former President Trump’s alleged “threat to democracy” a central theme of the race, the president’s party is quick to jettison democratic processes that don’t augment their power. Apparently, democracy is expendable when Democrats are at risk of losing power.

Newly skeptical voters can find a consistent pattern of Democrats subverting democratic processes if they look for it.

Throwing out the votes of Democratic primary voters? Just the beginning.  

Threatening to restructure the Supreme Court when rulings don’t go their way? Or to eliminate the Electoral College when their message isn’t appealing broadly enough? They don’t think twice.  Banning, censoring and gagging a presidential candidate whose message they don’t like? No problem.

But this time it’s different. Voters are catching on. How is this saving democracy?  Voters understand you don’t get to redo your primary just because someone had a bad debate. You don’t get to rewrite the rules every time your party suffers a setback.

Democrats are likely stuck with Joe Biden and Kamala. Harris. Time is too short. It’s too late to change the campaign finance rules that govern Biden’s campaign fund, or the party rules that govern who can be on the ballot in each state.  More importantly, there is no mechanism to force Biden out simply because he might lose. Although Democrats have likely frantically looked for one.

As the ugly truth sets in, debate watchers who trusted their government and their media have to be asking serious questions. If Trump is such a threat to democracy, why are Democrats the ones breaking all the norms?

Democrats in the Minnesota House of Representatives advanced two gun control bills on Thursday that have Republicans, gun groups, and private citizens concerned.

HF 4300, authored by Rep. Jamie Becker-Finn, D-Roseville, would set new laws for how firearms must be stored. Under the proposed law, gun owners must either leave their firearms unloaded with a locking device, or store their firearms in a legitimate “firearm storage unit” such as a safe. Citizens who fail to do so will face legal consequences ranging from misdemeanors to felonies, depending on the offense. READ MORE…
