A Refresher Course

We need constant reminders of the language of the Congress of the United States. They talk in “spin-speak”. Like any foreign language spoken, we need interpreters to understand what they are saying. Here are just a few examples;

  • President Obama: “If anyone has an idea that opposes this bill, I want to hear it and discuss it with them. So far, no one has presented anything.”
    • Translation: “If you oppose anything I say, you have the Constitutional right to express it. I will still do whatever I want because anyone who opposes me is an idiot and not worthy of my time.”
  • “The Republicans are not willing to negotiate with us”, or anything similar to those words.
    • Translation: “The Republicans refuse to go along with everything we say and want to do, therefore, they refuse to negotiate.”
  • “The Republicans do not want Americans to get health insurance.”
    • Translation: “The Republicans want to stop us from controlling and additional 16% of the national economy.”
  • “The Republicans shut down the government because they are angry they lost the last Presidential Election giving us a mandate to enforce the Affordable Care Act.”
    • Translation: “We shut down to government to make the radical Right Republicans (i.e., Tea Party Principled Conservatives).”
  • “The Republicans need to return to the table so we can solve these issues and get our government back open so we can get back to work.”
    • Translation: “The Republicans need to get in lock-step with us so we can continue the transformation of this government to a European Socialist Democracy.”
  • Any disagreement with the Liberals generates the most extreme of demonetization, character assignation, lies, and extreme denouncements.

There are so many more, but I don’t think you need any more reminders. There is one underlying constant: “If a Liberals mouth moves while they are speaking, they are probably lying”.

The Democrats Own This Government Shutdown…Even If RINOs Don’t Think So

Obama Expect GlitchesDespite House RINO’s doing everything they can to appease Harry Reid’s Senate, short of funding Obamacare outright, Reid’s Senate rejected the second House alternative presented to them. Reid and a megalomaniacal Democrat party are only interested in one thing; getting their own way. Reid knows that with every rejection, a timid Republican House is ever more likely to back down rather than be blamed for a government shutdown. Trouble is, they are being blamed anyway. Typically and irrationally, Republicans are being faulted, far more often than the Democrats, for being recalcitrant and forcing a government shutdown that is entirely unnecessary and is exclusively in the hands of The Lyin’ King and his retainers in the Senate.

After Reid rejected the first House bill, The House, in an unfathomable effort to buy more time before a government shutdown scheduled to begin at midnight Monday, offered a watered-down bill to the Senate; the first bill proposed a government completely funded…except for the ruinous, new entitlement, Obamacare. For the second go-round the House, unsurprisingly, backed off.  In yet another nod to Democrat autocracy, the revised bill proposed to delay instituting Obamacare for a year and to eliminate taxes on medical products, products like aspirin, toothbrushes and band aids: “Don’t let’s think about defunding Obamacare for a while; let’s just stall and kick the can down the road for another year.” Those two amendments Democrats disliked were dismissed out of hand by Reid’s Senate Monday afternoon. Why cave in to a House that has proven its willingness to fold, like a cheap suit? As FOX News put it: “House leaders will now have to decide whether to make a counter-offer or accept the Senate bill.” House Republican Whip, Kevin McCarthy, indicated that the House may not be finished walking back their position: “We have other options for the Senate to look at…There are a few other ideas floating around the Hill for targeting ObamaCare without going so far as to defund it…” Swell.

According to The Washington Times: “Some Republicans want the House to pass a new bill that would fund the government but also would require President Obama, Vice President Joseph R. Biden and all of the administration’s top political appointees to forgo their government health plans and join the health exchanges. Still to be decided is another measure the House passed unanimously early Sunday morning that would guarantee U.S. troops continue to be paid even in the event of a government shutdown.”The Hill reports that Speaker Boehner, in a rare display of criticism for the Senate, said “The Senate decided not to work yesterday…Well my goodness, if there’s such an emergency, where are they?”

The answer is that the Democrat majority Senate is right where they’ve been since 2008; in the catbird seat. Their ploys to blame Republicans for their own actions are not accidental nor have they been since the inauguration of The Lyin’ King. Elected Democrats have reached a point where they are permitted to get away with a nation’s murder. Democrats are in complete control of whether a government shutdown, which they’ve fabricated into a false emergency, ever occurs. Both The Lyin’ King and his flacks in government have promised to reject anything that goes against what they want; Obamacare, a blight that a majority of Americans has recognized as such, shouldn’t be an issue. It is a political gift to Republicans and for a country desperate for genuine leadership.

On Monday, the House whined that the bill wasn’t being returned to them with enough time to amend it prior to meeting the deadline. RINO’s would do anything to avoid being tarred with a government shutdown. They might have learned a thing or two from President Reagan: If the Lyin’ King and a Democrat Senate want to turn the destruction of America into a game of “chicken,” House Republicans must finally prove the chicken isn’t them.

CONGRESSMAN SHOWS OBAMACARE EXCHANGES CRASH MINUTES AFTER LAUNCH

Congressman Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) tweeted out aphoto at 12:09 AM EST showing the Obamcare exchanges website was down, nine minutes after various federal government offices shut down and the Affordable Care Act exchanges went into effect.

In another tweet, Huelskamp wrote:

“Shutdown or no shutdown, we are ready to go, to start enrolling people tomorrow,” Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said at a press conference Monday. “We are about to make some history and some very positive history for lots of families around the country.”

According to ABC News:

Sebelius said about 52 percent of HHS employees will be deemed unessential and furloughed, but that will not affect any workers in the call centers or ”navigators” tasked with helping people to sign up. Most of the funding for the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, was provided in the law so it would not be affected even if the federal government shuts down.

Sebelius did say it was “hard to tell” how a prolonged shutdown could affect implementation of the law down the road, though.

“That begins to look more serious the longer it takes,” Sebelius said, noting that much of  HHS’ operations will be covered under “mandatory money.”

She also acknowledged that there were bound to be “glitches” when the new insurance marketplaces come online Tuesday morning, and people  begin to sign up. HHS is running all or part of the marketplace exchanges in 36 states; the others will be handled by each state individually. She compared that possibility to Apple’s latest software upgrade, which asked users to download an additional update to fix problems with the initial update.

The House voted later in the night on procedural measures in regards to the continuing resolution. Republicans are seeking to appoint a “conference committee” to come up with a funding measure. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid responded to that idea saying, “We will not go to conference with a gun to our head.”
